Why Housing Associations look to improve claims management

As a technology supplier we spend a great deal of our time talking to clients and prospects about the functionality and features of our solutions. These are of course essential to the users as they make their working lives far more productive and simpler, but these features aside why do Housing Associations wish to improve upon the way that they manage claims?

Through conversation and research we have uncovered the key requirements which would lead an organisation to decide to change the way that claims are managed. In no particular order;

  1. A wish to be able to manage all liability, property and motor claims electronically in line with the guidance from insurers. For instance the ability to easily produce a quarterly Stop Loss report
  2. An obvious desire to improve efficiency and transparency of the insurance function thus delivering excellent customer service and valuable business intelligence
  3. To meet new regulatory guidance, for example the recent MOJ reforms. These state that a decision to defend or settle a claim must be made within 30 days of the date on the original claim letter, reducing from the previous 90 days
  4. To move away from ineffective and costly in house systems that are no longer supported and are no longer fit for purpose. To be fair this probably resonates with users of any system.
  5. To facilitate improved decision making through better management information to understand trends and identify risk

None of these 5 points should, or would surprise you, but they form the basis of many recent decisions to implement technologies such as JCAD have to offer. In addition, the growing demand for new properties across the UK means the pressure upon Housing Associations will only increase. An improved system for claims management is just one area where a small investment can make huge financial impact, so if you can identify some of the issues in your own organisation please get in touch to see how we can help.
