Thoughts on lockdown

So since March I’ve been working from home as have most of the other staff at JCAD. Initially I think we were all a little concerned as to how this might work out, but within just a few weeks it became apparent that nothing much was going to change! Developers develop, consultants consult, support continue to support and sales sell. From speaking to clients I don’t think they have noticed a drop in our service standards and on that note, because of the Coronavirus, I think we’ve made more of an effort to keep in touch. Something that I am committed to continue once we are back to normal, whatever & whenever that might be.

As a small software house, I appreciate that we have been extremely lucky in being able to continue to operate with very little inconvenience and without interruption. Some of my friends & clients have not been so lucky and the repercussions of the virus will obviously have huge impact for years to come.

There have been some noticeable differences at home. You probably have experienced some or all of these yourselves?

  • More of a tan than usual
  • Dog expects more of me
  • Lots of Amazon boxes
  • Seen more of my teenagers
  • Chillier house, due to fridge door being almost permanently open
  • Bad haircut

Finally, I’ve been running a lot more (usually with the dog) so definitely fitter, but weirdly also…….fatter.

Stay safe and stay well.

Phil
